Mel Bratman and Debbie Long have joined LibertyExchange.com as network members, working to assist successful business owners in the Metroplex sell their businesses to willing entrepreneurs in the area. Mel and Debbie have been local business owners since 1987, working as Executive Retail Management Services, assisting small business owners in business planning, growing a large staffing service working with Fortune 500 clients to fill their employment needs, and finally partnering in pioneering a brand new industry in the internet selling arena. Debbie had an early career in several companies in the transportation industry involved in operations and marketing, until deregulation of the industry. She changed career paths and joined Zale Corporation as assistant to the EVP of the Zale Division stores, assisting in budget preparation and store communications. As Zale ownership changed, she left and joined Mel in pursuing small business consulting, finally joining a franchise operation of staffing services. They opened and built a staffing company which grew to grossing over $1.75 million in sales, before leaving to allow another entrepreneur to continue to build the business. Needing a new challenge, they joined a brand new industry, opening retail stores selling client goods on internet websites. After three years, they again chose to take another path, and with their background and knowledge in small business operations, felt that they could assist other small and medium size businesses to change ownership and face new challenges. |
Mel Bratman has close to a half century of business experience. Fresh out of the Marine Corp he joined Zales Corporation, the nations largest retail jewelry chain as a Sales associate. Over the next 27 years he was rewarded for his accomplishments with numerous promotions. The last seven years he was in charge of store operations for all of the Zale Division stores. As Executive Vice President he was responsible for more than 5000 employees and an inventory and sale number that exceeded a Billion dollars. In 1986 Bratman left Zale Corporation to pursue his life long dream of taking total control of his life by owning his own business. Bratman then recruited Debbie Long a successful business associate at Zale Corporation in joining him, as an equal business partner in their new business venture of Business Management Consulting. They soon teamed up with a young Staffing Service out of Oklahoma and spent the next seventeen years helping businesses of all types become more efficient and profitable. Bratman and Long introduced Express Personnel to North Texas. They operated multiple staffing service offices throughout the Metroplex, some with gross annual sales approaching two million dollars. Three years ago they sold their interest in Express Personnel to pursue yet another Business interest, assisting in the development of a network of franchised eBay drop off stores.
